“There isn’t a sadder, more upsetting sight
when family’s fracture and squabble and fight.
Some people say that that’s not quite a sin,
that there’s no literal rule to get along with yer kin.”
The family Hertz are exactly like the family that you may have in your own house. They love beer, they are all bald and they love slapping their bellies. As Gampy Hertz, beloved patriarch of the Hertz family, rots on his turbid deathbed, he beseeches his loathsome brood to meet, once more, for a final Hertz Family Reunion. The scheming eldest, identical triplets Hankey, Porous and Knox, each equally believe that they are about to be named heir to the family estate but dame fortune, she spins her wheel in a way none could expect driving the Hertz to commit the wackiest capers any crook could commit; trickery.
In Pummel Squad’s second annual Christmas Pantomime an ensemble of around 20 performers wearing matching stained white singlets, footy shorts and bald caps make up the Hertz family and their associates. A love letter to the giant dysfunctional family we all have and the Christmas Pantomime that we all despise, The Hertz Family Reunion is a joyous celebration of Christmas… kind of… not really.
